Neurology
Neurology is a medical specialty dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Specifically, it deals with the diagnosis and treatment of all categories of disease involving the central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous systems, including their coverings, blood vessels, and all effector tissue, such as muscle. A neurologist is a physician (not a surgeon) who specializes in neurology, and is trained to investigate, or diagnose and treat, neurological disorders.
Neurologists deal with medical problems that occur in the two parts of the nervous system: the central nervous system (which includes the brain and spinal cord) and the peripheral nervous system (which includes the nerves, nerve roots, and muscles). They often perform tests and special examinations on various parts of your nervous system in order to properly diagnose and treat illness.
