Westside Regional Medical Center's new $75 million, 3-story patient tower expansion is set to open September 2019.
By: Barbara Simmons, RN, CEO, Westside Regional Medical Center
Westside Regional Medical Center has been part of the Plantation community since 1974, but we've grown and changed a lot since then. We invite you to visit our newly renovated facility including our newest expansion—an 85,000 square-foot, three-story tower featuring 72 new private rooms, that will give patients and their families a comfortable, healing environment.
The expansion also features a new lobby and entrance area, registration area, gift shop and café on the ground floor. The first and second floors will each have 36 private patient rooms with increased natural light as each patient room has a window.
While the new expansion is creating 72 new private rooms, Westside's bed count is only increasing by 26, from a 224 bed hospital to 250 beds. Patient rooms in the existing building will be privatized and the rest of the hospital will be continue to be updated to match the aesthetic of the new tower. The hospital recently expanded its PACU (post anesthesia care unit), the ER lobby was just updated with new furniture and the cafeteria just completed its renovation.
The tower grand opening community event will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019, from 9am - noon. We will be offering facility tours to give you s sneak peek at the new tower and provide a day of fun and entertainment for the whole family as we celebrate our grand opening.
We are fortunate to live in a great city with so many resources. We thank the City of Plantation for being partners in our expansion, as well as Plantation Police and Fire Rescue for their continued partnership with us in caring for our community.
At Westside, world-class physicians are right here in your backyard, providing everything from emergency services to cardiology and minimally invasive surgery. We offer our community the latest in minimally invasive spine and colorectal surgery and we are also certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration and a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission.
