Cancer treatments we provide

Our oncology specialists offer a spectrum of treatment methods for cancer. At Westside Regional, a patient's approach to care will be customized based on his or her type and stage of cancer and individual needs, and may include more than one of the following treatments.

Interventional radiology

Interventional radiology uses medical imaging technologies to diagnose and treat various health conditions, including cancer. Interventional radiology has a wide variety of uses for cancer treatment, from a chemotherapy port placement to more complex procedures such as radioembolization (injecting "radioactive beads" into blood vessels that feed a tumor with the aid of fluoroscopy ) and cryoblation (using ultrasound or a CT scan to help guide a needle to a tumor, then injecting a gas that freezes the tumor cells).

This minimally invasive technique means less pain and shorter recovery times for patients.

Chemotherapy and immunotherapy

Westside Regional’s hematologists and medical oncologists frequently use chemotherapy and immunotherapy (or a combination of both therapies) as effective forms of cancer treatment.

  • Chemotherapy—A type of infusion therapy, a powerful medicine used to stop the growth and reproduction of cancer cells
  • Immunotherapy—Treatment that triggers, by stimulation or suppression, the immune system to work more effectively to fight cancer
