Interventional radiology uses medical imaging technologies to diagnose and treat various health conditions, including cancer. Interventional radiology has a wide variety of uses for cancer treatment, from a chemotherapy port placement to more complex procedures such as radioembolization (injecting "radioactive beads" into blood vessels that feed a tumor with the aid of fluoroscopy ) and cryoblation (using ultrasound or a CT scan to help guide a needle to a tumor, then injecting a gas that freezes the tumor cells).
This minimally invasive technique means less pain and shorter recovery times for patients.

Westside Regional’s hematologists and medical oncologists frequently use chemotherapy and immunotherapy (or a combination of both therapies) as effective forms of cancer treatment.
