Behavioral Health Center
University Pavilion is a beautiful, state-of-the-art
behavioral health facility located on the campus of
University Hospital & Medical Center. This 60-bed
unit is staffed by physicians who specialize in
psychiatry, psychologists, nurses, social workers
and recreational therapists who assist patients
with understanding mental illness, developing
coping skills and making better decisions. We
offer treatment to children and adolescents with
acute conditions that require 24-hour supervision,
in addition to an array of adult-care programs
designed to suit specific needs.
Inpatient care is provided to individuals with
symptoms so severe that they require 24-hour
supervision and behavioral health treatment. The
inpatient treatment helps stabilize, diagnose and
treat the condition. The Partial Hospitalization
Program (PHP) provides an intensive level of
psychiatric treatment in an outpatient setting.
The primary goal is to improve a patient’s level
of functioning and reduce symptoms to prevent
relapse or hospitalization. The Intensive Outpatient
Therapy (IOP) Program provides comprehensive
psychiatric care on a voluntary or referral basis.
Patients participate in treatment during the day
and return home each afternoon, for an average of
two to six weeks. The Center for Geriatric Behavioral
Health is designed to treat and improve the lives
of adults over 65 who are suffering from depression
and other psychiatric diseases. Special care is taken
to meet their emotional and physical needs to assure
their safety and well-being while in our care.
Women’s Center
The newly renovated University Women’s Center
provides outstanding preventive care and treatment
for breast and bone health. Its patients now have
access to a private mammography waiting room,
digital mammography, bone density screening,
state-of-the-art MRI and a dedicated operating
room for breast stereotactic, breast reconstruction
and other breast health-related surgeries. We offer
extended weekday and weekend hours and
affordable mammograms daily.
Medical Stabilization
University Hospital & Medical Center offers
an inpatient medical stabilization service called
New Vision
for individuals with drug, alcohol
and related health issues. The service begins with
a medically supervised hospital stay that typically
lasts for three days. At admission, our team
assesses the patient’s fundamental needs through
a medical history, physical examination, complete
laboratory tests and nursing evaluation. Upon
completion of the program, we work closely with
patients to develop ongoing plans for recovery that
include referrals to support groups to help them
maintain healthy lifestyles.
